Kulia I Ka Nu’u – 2018-2019 School Theme

Strive to Reach the Highest

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40:31

Friendship Christian Schools has educated the youth of Hawaii for twentyfive years and has attempted to instill in them the desire to do their best, not just in academics but in all areas of life, with a special emphasis on the spiritual. Early in our history, we chose the Iolana, the soaring hawk, as our mascot and Isaiah 40:31 as the school verse.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

In the Hawaiian language it is said, “Kulia I Ka Nu’u,” or “strive to reach the highest”. As the faculty and staff attempt to example their best for the Lord, we are trying to teach our students to do so as well. It is only appropriate, as we complete a quarter century and enter a new phase in our school’s existence, that we remember and practice the motto,

Kulia I Ka Nu’u.
