About FCS

Friendship Christian Schools (FCS) began providing quality Christian education with a preschool in 1993.  Beginning with preschool, FCS now offers education to K3 students through high school. The school operates on two campuses, the Youth Center Campus at 91-1207 Renton Road and the Secondary Campus at 91-1130 Renton Road.  Land has been purchased on Keaunui Street where a new church building has been constructed, and we hope to see a new school building built there in the future as well.

Friendship Christian Schools is a ministry of Friendship Baptist Church, which is an independent Baptist church.  The school’s purpose is to strengthen Christian students through spiritual and academic training so they will be better able to serve the Lord.  The goal for Friendship’s students is godliness.  The entire ministry at Friendship is dedicated to developing every area of the students’ lives.

The history of Friendship Christian Schools can only be viewed as part of the greater history of Friendship Baptist Church.  Friendship Baptist Church was founded in 1985 by Pastor David Parker.  Pastor Parker was a missionary with Maranatha Bible Church as his sending church.  Friendship Baptist Church came to the former sugar plantation town of Ewa Villages in 1988. We moved into a renovated plantation building in 1990.  In 1993 the church decided to open a school that would serve the church family as well as those of like faith while at the same time providing a needed community service.

In order to open the school, the church was able to lease the former plantation store from the Oahu Sugar Company. Although the store had been used for various purposes in the past, it had fallen into such a state of disrepair that it was only through the concerted efforts of the church membership, community and a few grants the school was able to open its doors. In 1993, the school opened its doors as the Friendship Youth Center offering K3 and K4 under the leadership of Mrs. Donna Reid. The following years of 1994 and 1995 saw the additions of K5 and 1st grade added respectively. By 1996, FCS had grown to the point that the remaining 2nd–12th grades were added. In 2013, the administration of the school grew with the addition of Craig Calizo becoming the administrator of the middle/high school campus. Further administration changes came in 2016 when Molly Norden became the preschool/elementary administrator. Friendship Christian School’s student body and staff continue to grow with an average of 300 students per year under the leadership of Mrs. Molly Norden for the Youth Center Campus and Mr. Keith Reid for the Secondary Campus.

Pastor James Reid became pastor of Friendship in March of 2002.  Pastor Reid spent part of his formative years in Hawaii then attended Hyles-Anderson College on the mainland.  Upon graduating college, he served in various leadership capacities at two mainland churches before returning to Hawaii to pastor Friendship Baptist Church.  Under his leadership the church and school have continued to grow and serve the Ewa Plains community.  A new church building has just been completed, and eventually a new school will be built on the same plot of land.

Friendship Christian Schools and its various programs are ministries sponsored by Friendship Baptist Church and are, therefore, dedicated to spiritual principles. This means, of course, that our programs will not only be involved in advancing the children in various areas of education but also in enlarging their understanding of their Creator and His desire for their lives.

We believe it is critical that children come to understand the love of Jesus and the basic principles of the Holy Scriptures. This will help them become people of integrity, productive in society, living lives honoring God first and then serving those around them. Our spiritually-centered program, coupled with proper nurturing and discipline at home, will produce the character that every parent hopes to see in his child as well as that which brings glory to God.

Our goal for our students and graduates is that they be godly influences by their lives and conduct. The entire staff of Friendship Christian Schools is dedicated to developing every area of the students’ lives so they might be effective servants of the Lord Jesus Christ.
